The 'Hall On The Green'

Welcome to the Hawstead's Hall On The Green website

Hawstead lies 3 miles south of Bury St Edmunds in undulating Suffolk countryside. The village is spread over nine square kilometres and is a mix of old and new dwellings surrounded by woods and farmland. Hawstead is home to one of the oldest village churches in the area and it boasts one of the largest and prettiest village greens in England, on which sits the recently built oak-framed Hall.

The Village Hall was built primarily for the benefit of the residents of Hawstead. It can also be hired by local communities and individuals and has hosted many recreational events including wedding celebrations, anniversaries, private parties, club meetings, carpet sports and fitness classes. In addition, it benefits from Internet access and has a pull-down projection screen. The high vaulted ceiling and exposed oak beams in the main hall offer hirers a unique venue - a traditional design that cannot be matched locally. A glass door frontage opens onto a veranda and the 25-acre wildflower meadow of the village green.

A separate carpeted meeting room is also available for hire, offering a quiet and comfortably furnished space that can accommodate up to 20 people.

Adjacent to the Hall is a fenced play and picnic area (with a bark safety surface) which is great for occupying children!

The Hall On The Green offers hirers a beautiful venue in an outstanding rural setting to suit any occasion - business, leisure or pleasure.

The Hall is administered by Hawstead Community Council (HCC) and is available for hire.  A description of facilities, together with a ground plan of the building, is available on the Hall On The Green Facilities page. The conditions for booking and hire can be found on the Bookings and Calendar page.

Address: Hawstead Village Hall, Hawstead, Suffolk IP29 5NP.
